Groundsperson

Under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor or designate, the Groundsperson assesses, develops, implements and maintains the horticultural aspects of outdoor properties, landscapes and grounds. The incumbent maintains related equipment and irrigation systems and assists various trades with skilled work associated with the regular maintenance and minor repairs at a variety of locations while ensuring work is performed in a safe and effective manner in compliance with Board and legislative standards and codes, ensuring that properties, facilities, and equipment are properly maintained to protect against injury, facility damage and school day losses.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

•Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent.
•Completion of post-secondary courses at an accredited institution relating to grounds maintenance/construction (e.g. construction blueprints & methods, basic mathematics, lubrication, fan maintenance, hydronic, HVAC, plumbing, heating and cooling systems, roofing, carpentry methods, tools and equipment)
•Valid Ontario Drivers’ License
•Clean Driver’s Record
•Three (3) years previous work-related experience working as a landscape labourer/operator in a large commercial, industrial, or institutional setting

RATE OF PAY: $30.65 per hour
HOURS: 0630-1500, 40 paid hours per week
